WATER FALLS & COFFEE PLANTATION TOUR

from
$100.00$90.00

A trip to Materuni Village and waterfalls is a great way to spend a day away from the hustle of town life.  The tour starts with a walk to the waterfall. It is an opportunity to see how local fruit like avocados, mangos, lemons, and bananas grow, as well as learn some of the local history, traditions, village economy, agricultural and cultural life. When you get to the waterfall, you can refresh yourself in the natural pool, so swimsuits will come in handy! The walk itself lasts a few hours in total and has some steep passages, but nothing our guides cannot help our guests pass.

The tour will continue with a visit to the local village lying in the coffee plantations. The villagers will demonstrate the process of coffee farming and guide you through the preparation of coffee from a bean to a cup. Sing and dance along with the Chagga tribe as they are grinding, roasting and boiling the beans. When the coffee is ready, villagers will serve a late lunch – a national Chagga meal.

After enjoying your late lunch, you might also visit the famous Chagga caves – underground hand-dug caves from hundreds of years ago, when the Chagga tribe were fighting the Maasai tribe. Our guide will tell you the story and show you into the cave, if you wish! We will just remind you to mind your head – the caves are no bigger than forcing their inhabitants to crawl.

After this adventurous day, you will return back to your accommodation in Arusha – the drive lasts approximately 2 hours and you will return to Arusha before nightfall.
